So I have pretty much become obsessed with the blog world. I feel like I have stumbled upon a hidden treasure and I want to scream it to the world!! I love to do crafty things but am not the best at coming up with stuff to do on my own. I "pride" myself on being able to make replicas of other people's great ideas, lol. Lately I have been blog surfing and found SO many awesome blogs for crafty/creative people like me. As I surf Im usually making a face like this one...
because my heart starts to beat faster and the creative juices start flowing and I escape into this other world I sometimes live in where all I do everyday is create beautiful things. My husband tells me its my new facebook. He's so right. I would so much rather look at beautiful, funky, fun and creative stuff then read about who just filled up with gas at the gas station or who is having a really bad day and just needs to tell somebody (or hundreds of somebodies) about it.
If you are a crafter at heart like me, take a little tour of the links to the blogs I love on this page and let your heart be inspired too! I just wish I would have found some of these a week or two earlier so I would have had time to enjoy some of the chirstmas-y crafts.

My mighty man of God Eli...
I really wanted to dedicate a post to who Eli is at this stage in his life! This is my little 3 year old. He is 3 and 2 months in this pic. He's always been super tall (97%) and always looked much older than he is.
This is my little muffin just a few days old...
Its amazing how the time flies by. Eli is our world changer and a truly unique little man. He's a nurturer and very attentive to the moods and needs of others but he's also a warrior. You will find him wielding his invisible sword to fight all kinds of bad guys throughout the day. He has a sweet spirit and is by far the funniest kid I have ever known. Eli has a knack for imitating facial expressions and acting.
He is so expressive about everything he does. Did I mention he LOVES to dance? This kid can dance his heart out for hours. Dance Party is one of our favorite games we play and he break dances and interpretive dances until he drops.
Every morning he wakes up and comes into our bedroom and says, "Its light outside!" He knows that when its dark outside he has to stay in bed, but when its light outside he can get up. And typically he comes in and sees that Grant has already gone to work. He'll say, "Where's daddy?" "He's at work buddy." Then he replies, "Aww". Pretty much everyday!
Such a funny kid with an incredible imagination. Everyday with Eli is an adventure!! We have a Rick Pino song on a cd in my car and every time it comes on he says, "It's the Holy Spirit! We need to pray. Pray Mommy!" And he and I will pray for a few minutes.
The other day at Target he and Grant were standing at the checkout and a kid had a shirt with a skull on it and other gross images. Eli declared out loud, "Look Daddy! That's not honoring God! Thats yucky!" Grant was stuck because the other kid heard him say that! I'm sure there are more moments like that to come. Eli has such a heart for God!
We so love this kid and are beyond thankful to the Lord that he is ours!
Christmas is coming!
This is our Christmas card for this year.
I just love Christmas time. Our house is decorated, our cards are mailed out, and all thats left is some holiday baking! I'm still debating about which treats we will delight in this year. As Eli gets older it occurs to me that he is going to remember this Christmas and this will be the beginning of the different traditions we will have. Since I was pregnant with him I've dreamed of all the fun crafts and things we would get to do and its been a LONG wait to get him old enough to be able to do it. But the wait is over and I look forward to blogging about all the fun that will be had in the next 2 weeks.

Self Pity...the super glue of Hell
I have been thinking a lot about self pity and how dangerous it is to our moving forward in Jesus. I have heard it said that "Self pity is the super glue of Hell" and I couldn't agree more. Self pity is the WOE IS ME thoughts that run through our minds. It wants us to start blaming everyone else for our struggles or circumstances instead of taking responsibility for ourselves. When I am talking with someone who is in need of a touch from God often people will share, "Its just never going to change. Im always going to be like this." Or "I've ALWAYS had to take the hard road so why would I even expect this time to be any different." Have you ever thought those things? I HAVE! Man oh man, self pity is a nasty sucker. When we agree with the thoughts of self pity we tell the Lord, "I'm willingly choosing to believe that you are not working in my life. That you, God, don't care about my circumstances and are not at work in me to bring about change."
Self pity isolates us and diminishes our hope...Not to mention that the whole point of self pity is to get us to focus on our SELVES. Where is this in the bible? All the themes throughout scripture are Trust in the LORD, put your faith and hope in GOD, Look to JESUS for wisdom, direction and guidance, and on and on. We are instructed consistently in scripture to not get caught up in looking at ourselves but to turn our thoughts toward God and let HIM speak, correct, lead and guide us. So many of us don't understand that its the Holy Spirit's job to bring conviction and its His KINDNESS that leads to repentance. We are not to convict ourselves. We need to measure our lives against the word in the Bible, but we are not to look to other people to gage how we are doing spiritually or where we need to change. If the enemy of God can get us to put the focus on ourselves he is winning the battle. We do not possess the freedom we need in and of ourselves. We must look to Jesus and accept the freedom He already paid for on the cross.
Self Pity is the super glue of hell because it tells us to look at ourselves and circumstances instead of where God is in our lives and what He says about our circumstances. If we buy into the self pity it opens the door for so many other spirits and strongholds. It looks something like this....
Something hard happens in your life, the self pity starts in "OF COURSE THIS WOULD HAPPEN TO ME, I'M ALWAYS THE ONE WHO (enter whatever the hardship is)." Then we want to justify and feel better about ourselves so we blame shift a little: "GOD OBVIOUSLY THINKS ITS FUNNY TO SEE ME HAVE A HARD TIME". Even if we say this sarcastically its an absolute lie that we are agreeing with. Then Hopelessness starts to set in "NOTHING IS EVER GOING TO CHANGE. I'M GOING TO BE LIKE THIS FOREVER" or "I CAN'T GET FREE NO MATTER WHAT I DO!" Then comes the depression and more self pity...."IF ONLY SOMEONE WOULD COME AND HELP ME!" and the cycle just keeps spiraling.
When we agree with self pity we cut off our ability to hear God's perspective on our lives. Last time I checked most people are not really interested in what the devil's perspective is but we unknowingly listen to it all the time. We have to rid ourselves of the trap of self pity by cutting it off as soon as we recognize it, repent for listening, and ask God to speak HOPE and His perspective. Then we have to CHOOSE to believe what God says above ALL the other thoughts, reasons, and voices.

Callie is 3 months!!!!
My little lady turned 3 months today! Hard to believe that she is really ours. This post is dedicated to my little beauty and her amazing personality. At 3 months she is sleeping through the night (really since about 6 weeks). Around 9 we get her all swaddled up and within 10 minutes usually she is out until around 7am! What a blessing that is. But the best part is getting her up in the mornings. We go into her room after she's awake and when she sees us she lights up with the most beautiful big smile EVER! Its the highlight of our morning. So much so that Eli can't wait for her to wake up so he can go talk to her.
I've actually never seen a baby her age be so smiley. She smiles, coos, giggles and laughs often. And Callie loves it when you sing to her. Her eyes light up really bright and she gets this huge smile and it just melts your heart!!
And Callie stretches a bunch too!
What a joy she is to us! I cannot wait to see what all her personality will be like as she continues to grow.
Cousin Time!
A quick trip to Missouri...
Since we had all the grandkids together we thought we'd do a little photo session with matching outfits. This is Eli and Callie, and my niece Rebekah (14 months).
Eli loves playing with Bekah!
And of course my little munchies together...
I'm really looking forward to Christmas and getting to see Eli and Rebekah play together bunches more!
Thanksgiving 2010
A couple days before Thanksgiving we did a craft with the kids and made shirts! I got the idea from a friend of mine and thought it was such a great way to commemorate Callie's first thanksgiving and something fun for Eli. We painted their hands and then added turkey features. This year we went to Dallas to be with Grant's family. We had a great time and took Eli to the train display at the North Park Mall.
We left Dallas and headed for home on Saturday morning. About an hour into the drive I had a hair-brained idea to drive the kids and I to Missouri and surprise my parents with a little visit. Grant had to do stuff with church so he couldn't come, but I knew my mom would love it. Plus, my brother and niece were in town for a quick visit so it lined up nicely!
